Special Collections Research Account

UCSB Library Special Collections include Special Research Collections and the Geospatial Collection. Requests to view materials within Special Research Collections and the Geospatial Collection are made through the Special Collections Research Account. This account is free for all users. More about each collection is linked below.

Current UC Santa Barbara Affiliates

UCSB Affiliate Researchers include current students, faculty, and staff with an active UCSB NetID.

You will be required to authenticate using your UCSB NetID and password.

Non-UC Santa Barbara Researchers

Non-UCSB researchers include everyone not actively affiliated with the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Features of the Special Collections Research Account

  • Request access to non-circulating materials through a request form or through online catalogs:
  • Set up appointments for in-person visits to a reading room to view non-circulating materials
  • Request to have aerial photographs scanned and delivered electronically (there is a fee for this service)
  • Pay fees through the account
  • Track the status of your request
